Spring Tournament - June 16, 2012

Tournament Payout - Top 10 teams based on tournament scoring - 10 points/fish, plus 1 point/pound -
1st Place - $25,000 (based on full field of 60 boats)

Ross Patrick Memorial Big Fish Award - $1,000 Largest Salmon Caught

Calcutta - $100 to enter -  Organized at Captain's Meeting - "Best 3" Fish - payout to 3 teams (50%, 30%, 20%)

Waiting List - 2011 Tournament Participants will have priority registration for the 2012 Spring Tournament, but must have a registration form and deposit submitted by November 15, 2011 in order to receive priority registration.  Other teams are welcome to submitt a registration form at any time and will be placed on a waiting list, until November 16, 2011 at which time entries will be confirmed.

2011 Tournament Rules


1. Postponing of the tournament would take place if a small-craft wind warning or other dangerous water conditions are forecasted the day of the event. A decision to reschedule the Saturday tournament day to the Sunday will be made by tournament officials only, and will be made by 8:00 am on Saturday July 30, 2011.  In the event of a postponment, the event will take place on Sunday July 31, 2011. There will be NO REFUND given. If weather continues to force postponing start time on the Sunday, a cancellation announcement will be made no later then 11:00 am at a called captain's meeting. At that time the prizes will be drawn.


2. All Teams must supply a team member who will act as on observer on another competitors boat.  If any team does not have an observer, one will be appointed by tournament officials and a $150.00 fee will be charged to apply.

3. Teams must be registered prior to May 15, 2011 to be eligible for any early bird prizes.

4. Tournament Fishing is in Canadian Waters only and is only permitted from 6:30 am to 2:30 pm, with all teams reporting to the weigh-in area no later than 3:30 pm on July 30, 2011.  All tournament boats/teams are not allowed to leave the dock any earlier than 5:50 a.m on the day of the tournament and must queue within 100m of the entrance of the harbour to await the official “shot-gun” start of the tournament.  Any boats leaving this queue area prior to the official shot-gun start will be penalized a total of 30 points at the time of weigh-in.

5. All team coolers, captain (or team delegate), and assigned observer boats must be in the designated weigh-in area no later than 3:30 pm of the day of the tournament.  There will be a penalty of 4 points per minute late assigned to any teams arriving in the designated area after 3:30 p.m.  The designated weigh-in area will be identified at the captains meeting as will the official tournament time. 

6. Chinook and Coho Salmon are the only fish species to be entered into the tournament and must be a minimum of 20” at the time of official weigh-in to be eligible for entry.   Any fish not meeting the 20” slot size (measured from tip of snout to folded tip of tail) that is brought in for official weigh-in will be ineligible AND the team will be penalized 30 points at the time of weigh-in.  The team will also forfeit the opportunity to go get another fish from your total daily catch.

7. Competitors must not go ashore anywhere except designated areas (i.e., Bluffer's Park Marina). During competition Tournament officials must be contacted at that time.  All captains must check in at the tournament headquarters before leaving port.

 8. Tournament Officials, including observers may inspect boats and/or coolers at any time after 5:30 a.m on the day of the competiton. No persons other than registered competitors will be allowed in a competitors boat during the fishing period of the competition, without prior approval of the team captain.

9. All standings will be determined by points. A tie for any position will see the team with the single heaviest fish will be deemed the outright winner. (HEAVIEST FISH IN BOX)

10. Competitors may be disqualified for any violation of the tournament rules, with no refund of entry fee. Decision of the Tournament Officials is final.

11. Each competitor upon registration agrees to sign a waiver holding the tournament, tournament officials, sponsors, their agents and/or employees harmless from liability of any nature, and for injuries or damages suffered by the entrants during the period the tournament is held.

12. Any fish entered must be caught by hook and line, retrieved by rod and reel, on angling tackle. Any fish having cuts, gaff marks, gill net or puncture marks anywhere on the body will be examined by tournament officials to determine eligibility.

13. All competitors upon registration agree to abide by all rules

14.  It is unacceptable to the tournament committee to dispose of fish angled (dead fish) in order to maintain creel. All fish caught may be subject to polygraph testing in order to maintain good conservation practices.

15. At the discretion of tournament officials, any team entering fish that have been altered in any manner as to increase the weight of the fish will be disqualified from the tournament.

16. Any protest must be submitted to a tournament official no later than 20 minutes after the final team/boat has weighed in. This protest must be accompanied by $150.00 (CAN. Funds) and accompanied by an official “Tournament Protest Form” and signed by the team captain.  Any protest not meeting the above will rules will not be accepted.  The protest fee will be refunded when the protest is validated. 

17. The Marina will be monitoring radio channel 68. All communications of the Tournament Committee are to be done on this channel. If you need assistance from the Coast Guard you can contact them on Marine Channel 16, or by your cell phone.

18. Their will be no boat-to-boat communication whatsoever between the official “shot-gun” start time – 2:30 pm, and this includes  VHF Radio, CB, cell phones, blackberry’s, etc.  All personnel PDF's must be collected by the observer and placed in a closed bag between the official "shot-gun" start time and 2:30 pm of the day of event. Boats are permitted to monitor VHF Channel 16, and VHF radio/cell phones can only be used for emergency purposes only.

18. A captains meeting will be held and commence at 6:00 p.m. on July 29, 2011 at the Dog Fish Restaurant.  A signed waiver form with all team members signatures must be returned by the team captain or delegate at the captains meeting, or by 5:45 a.m. on July 30, 2011 at the latest.  Failure to do so will result in disqualification.

19. Observers are mandatory and must be identified by the team captain and be in attendance at captains/information meeting to be held on July 29, 2011.  All observers must be prepared to leave the dock on their assigned boat by 5:30 a.m. on July 30, 2011, and if a team’s observer is not present by 5:45 a.m. then the captain of the assigned observers team must forfeit a team member to act as a observer replacement, if not the team will be disqualified from the tournament.

20.  If any team requires an observer, notification must be provided to tournament officials by no later than July 15, 2011, at which time tournament officials will assign an observer to your team at an additional cost of $150.

21.  All decisions/rulings made by tournament officials will be deemed final by 5:00 p.m. on July 30, 2011.  Prize structure subject to full field.

22. All rules are subject to change up to and including the closing of the captains meeting on July 29, 2011.
